POST #5 – READING and GRQ – THE ART OF INDIGENO
I believe that video games are used as a scapegoat by parents. Actually, humans have always been a malicious race. Just like games or sports, video games make humans competitive with each other. The problem is that parents hear words come from their children’s mouth and assume that they carry violent intent. To me, it is similar to how adults talk during a sports game. They used the sports game to release pent up emotions to calm down and that is what video games are used for. There has always been violent media in history. From propaganda to boxing, violence has always been portrayed in the human race. The problem lies in human competition and power. Everyone wants to feel that they have power/superiority over something. The problem with television isn’t that it may be desensitizing violence, but feeding human’s ego. The fact is that television is giving humans the sense of fake superiority and making us feel like gods. However, in reality, we are just one step away from dying.
