POST #4 – LECTURE NATIVE AMERICAN – GOTHIC ARCHITECTURE

I found the lecture for this week to be very interesting. Indians were able to bring stories to life through dancing and acting. The Greeks were able to heal the sick with their theatrical performances. In doing this, they were able to build the first theaters. Out of all the videos, I found the Romans and Colosseum to be the most interesting. Through engineering, Romans were able to develop a way to fill the area with water for ship battles. However, it seems that historians do not have a solid idea of how they were able to achieve this feat.  Unlike the Indians or Greeks, Romans had seating depending on what social class you were. However, I found it interesting to note how either of the videos mention where the priestesses were seated during the events.  Vestal Virgins (or priestess) were of high standing. Since the Romans believed in polytheism, they had various practices. One of the practices was making sure sacred flame was lit. They believe if the flame was to go out, dark times would happen in Rome. So it was the job of the Vestal Virgins to keep the flame lit.
